At The Sash Window Workshop, we are proud to regularly support both local and national charities.
Charity work has always been important to The Sash Window Workshop. As a business that was set up as a family run organisation, we still have a strong family-based ethos today and believe that it is important to help others.
We regularly support a range of different charities by donating money and running charity events at the company, such as raffles (where the company purchases prizes and all money made from the raffle is donated to charity) and baking days (where the company matches any amount raised by employees). Every year money is put aside to support different charities.
The Sash Window Workshop Race for Life Team
On Saturday 9th October, 5 employees took part in this year’s 5k Race for Life at Windsor Racecourse to help raise money for Cancer Research UK.
With many people knowing someone who has been affected by cancer, Cancer Research UK helps to fund scientists, doctors and nurses to help beat cancer sooner, with early diagnosis and improved treatments.
The team were lucky to have a nice warm October day for the run. The view from the run was also lovely, with the run going around the Racecourse, alongside the River Thames.
Each team member was set a target of £100 to raise for the charity and we are happy to announce that they all exceeded this target, raising a total of £952 (plus gift aid) for Cancer Research UK.
The Sash Window Workshop then more than matched this total, donating £1,000 to the team (£200 to each runner), taking the total raised (including gift aid) to a fantastic £2,152!
The Sash Window Workshop Support Swings & Smiles
The Sash Window Workshop also regularly support Swings & Smiles, a local charity based in Thatcham who help support children with special needs and their extended families, offering services such as play sessions, sibling support and parent support sessions.
Swings & Smiles regularly host events to help fundraise money for the charity.
On Friday 8th October, they held a Swings & Smiles Ball at Newbury Racecourse, with an auction to raise money for the charity. We were proud to be one of the sponsors for the event, helping to ensure that as much of the money raised on the night as possible goes to supporting the charity.
