Timber French Doors
We manufacture and install bespoke, timber French doors to suit the period character of your home
Also referred to as patio doors, balcony doors or French windows, wood French doors are a double set of doors located at the rear of the property.
As specialists, we offer a wide range of styles of French doors to suit Victorian; Edwardian; and Georgian period properties.
Made to Measure Traditional Back Doors
We manufacture all our timber doors, in our workshop in Berkshire, to traditional styles to suit your period property.
All our new French doors are made to measure to your requirement and we can either match the style of your existing doors or provide a bespoke design to your precise requirements. Where necessary, we can conform to conservation area and listed property requirements.
We use a sustainable timber called Accoya™, which is both durable and stable, requiring minimum maintenance. Accoya™ also comes with a 50 year anti-rot guarantee.
External Replacement French Doors
The Sash Window Workshop offer a supply and install service across London and the South, with a supply only service across the whole of the UK.
Our complete new timber doors conform to or exceed relevant building regulations (FENSA) requirements. However, please note that your building is over 18 metres from the ground, FENSA will not issue a certificate and you will need to contact your local council to arrange for Local Authority Building Inspectors to certify that the doors comply with building regulations.
Our external wooden French doors are manufactured by our expert craftsmen using traditional techniques, while improving the performance and security of your home. All our replacement doors are draught proofed on installation, helping further improve the thermal efficiency of your home.
French Door Glazing Options
We offer bespoke glazing specifications and our wide range of suppliers enables us to cater for a large range of applications and styles, such as patterned, obscure, safety and laminated glass.
All our replacement timber doors come double glazed as standard. However, we can also manufacture our French doors to be single glazed when required.
We comply with European quality standards EN1279 for glazing and EN14351 for manufacturing quality.

High Quality, Sustainable French Doors
The quality of the timber we use in our wooden French doors and our joinery construction methods are of paramount importance to the lifespan and performance of your doors. Our timber French doors are made from Accoya™ (a sustainable modified wood) or durable hardwood, as these timbers are reasonably forgiving of any subsequent lack of maintenance or neglect and will last a lifetime.
All our bespoke French doors have at least three factory-applied coats of paint comprising base-coat primer, preservative, undercoat and a white semi-gloss topcoat finish. We can also offer a large range of coloured paints, as well as bespoke plain and waxed hand coated finishes, if required, at an extra cost. Find out more about our paint and stain finishes.
We also offer a range of ironmongery options with our French doors, including brass, polished chrome and brushed chrome.
In additional to wooden French doors, we also manufacture and install complete new sash windows, casement windows, external bi-folding doors and front doors, alongside offering a draught proofing service for timber windows.
