The Sash Window Workshop Invest in Second Workshop

We are proud to announce that we have now opened a second large, purpose designed workshop in Bracknell.

The new workshop, which is located next door to our existing workshop, allows us to expand our manufacturing capabilities, helping us to meet the growing demand for our timber windows and doors.

As part of the expansion, we have also implemented a new streamlined painting process, using a CEFLA paint line.  The new paint line will help increase the quantity of windows and doors that can be painted at any time without having to substitute quality of the painting.

Below is a short video showing our new CEFLA paint line spray painting windows in our new workshop:

The new paint line operates by an employee entering the required paint finish and window or door design information into a computer.  The robot then methodically sprays the wooden windows or doors with paint.

Once it has applied a coat of paint, the joinery moves along the automated paint line to the drying area.  The windows are then checked before they move onto having the second coat of paint applied.

Established over 27 years ago, in 1994, The Sash Window Workshop began as a small family business operating from a converted pig shed in Ascot.  Today we are still independently run, but we now have over 60 employees.

In the light of increasing demand, we decided last year to take advantage of Government funding and invest to grow our manufacturing facilities.

To help our joinery production keep up with our new efficient paint line, we have also installed a second Homag CNC machine which accurately cuts the timber that we use to make our windows and doors.

Richard Dollar, Managing Director at The Sash Window Workshop, comments:

“Having started from nothing with a hand to mouth existence in 1994, we are very proud of the success of our business. This success has enabled us to make a £1 million plus investment this year into new premises, plant and equipment.

We have always made our own windows and doors in the UK, allowing us to closely manage the quality of our products. Also, most importantly it provides job opportunities locally.

Roughly half our orders every year come from recommendations and existing customers. We believe future success depends on continuing to provide outstanding products alongside excellent customer service and making sure that every day we try to do things even better.”

Which? require companies to undergo regular strict assessments to be Which?
