At The Sash Window Workshop we have been manufacturing and installing bespoke timber windows and doors for period properties since 1994.
As period properties were not designed to standard specifications, all the windows and doors that we make are bespoke, however, some windows and doors that we have worked on are more unique than others. This article looks at a selection of the more unique bespoke designs that we have manufactured previously.
Windoor
A windoor is a single door that appears externally to be a timber sash window when it is closed. The new windoor in the above image was manufactured and installed as part of a major refurbishment project of a period property in West London.
Triangular projecting window bay
The triangular projecting window bay with a 6 mm toughened glass at the bottom. Designed to be a like-for-like replacement for the existing window, this window had to be reinforced to meet safety requirements.
Bowed sash window
Bowed glass windows, also known as curved glass windows, require a high level of expertise as they always have unique dimensions. The curve of the glass needs to exactly match the curve of the window frame.
Arched French door
Adding additional character to this beautiful period property, we designed and manufactured an arched French door. Arched windows and doors require extra attention to detail to ensure that they fit correctly into the opening.
Bespoke casement window
These bespoke casement windows were made to the unique design of the existing windows at the property. The window itself is a typical rectangular shape, but the glass is made to a pointed design.
Attention to detail
Excellent attention to detail is required when manufacturing and installing bespoke timber windows and doors to ensure that they operate smoothly and fit the specific requirements. Even being just a millimetre out can stop a bespoke window or door from operating properly or fitting correctly into the opening. It is therefore important to ensure that both the manufacture and the installation of bespoke windows and doors are carried out to a high standard.
