FSC® Friday is a yearly international celebration of responsible forestry and this year is taking place today (Friday 30th September).
The first event took place in the UK in 2008 aiming to raise awareness of the importance of looking after the world’s forests and purchasing products made from sustainable forests. Last year FSC® Friday was celebrated by 31 countries worldwide, including the UK.
Every year a forest the size of England is lost around the world and over the past 50 years, about half the world’s original forest cover has been lost.
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) is a global, non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting responsible management of the world’s forests. When you see the FSC® logo, you can be confident that your purchase uses timber from sustainable forests that are managed with care for the environment, wildlife and the people who live and work in them.
The FSC® label is currently found on over 10,000 product lines in the UK alone, ranging from pencils and paper to garden furniture and conservatories.
At The Sash Window Workshop we are proud to celebrate our first FSC® Friday as a manufacturer and installer of FSC® certified timber windows and doors.
The safety and protection of the environment is central to our policies and working practices. In addition to ensuring the timber for our windows and doors are sourced from sustainable forests, we also go to great lengths to ensure that our waste is disposed of in the most environmentally efficient way possible.
