Edwardian Timber Window Replacement for an Interior Designer in North London
Case study: New Edwardian style sash windows in North London
Anna van Dongen, Interior Designer for her own company Space Matters, was contracted to completely refurbish a stylish Edwardian Apartment in North London. Her client had particularly wanted a complete change to the feel and layout of the apartment and wanted a finish of perfection. Part of the refurbishment required the replacement of a bespoke triple aspect sash window bay.
Anna contacted The Sash Window Workshop and was put directly in touch with our Sales Surveyor. He went to visit the property with Anna and was able to put together a proposal for replacing the windows. It was important to both Anna and her client that the replacement windows represented the Edwardian style and integrity of the age of the property plus provided as much light into the room as possible and offering security and insulation.
The Sales Surveyor took all of these requirements into account and Anna was impressed with the proposal and the meticulous attention to detail provided. The order was placed and, with the windows being completely taken care of, Anna was able to move onto other areas of her project.
“The replacement windows are everything Space Matters and our client expected.”
Anna designed the whole property: a new kitchen/utility, bathroom, master bedroom, office/guest room, hallway and urban garden. Space Matters used their associate building firm MPCM and project managed the whole refurbishment. Just eight weeks from the beginning of works, the whole project was complete.
The results are truly stunning. Not only were the replacement sash windows everything Anna and her client expected, Anna’s vision, style and attention to detail succeeded to transform the tired and featureless apartment into an elegant home by restoring its period features and using luxurious materials and bespoke furniture. The improved to the original layout and design it is remarkable.
