The property aspirations of young professionals in London appear to be as ambitious as their career aspirations, with many setting their sights on an exclusive SW postcode, according to the latest research.

Not content with enjoying the delights of the capital from a studio flat in an ‘up and coming’ area it seems that career minded buyers aged between 25 and 44 are keen to fast-track their way up their property ladder.

And what’s the area of choice for this group of aspiring urbanites? Well according to the study by Lloyds Bank, providing a postcode starts with a sought-after SW London’s young professionals are more than happy to mentally move themselves in.

Topping the list of 20 areas with the most property sales to young professionals is SW19 (Wimbledon). This was followed by SW6, Fulham, SW18, Wandsworth, and SW11, Battersea.

Those young professionals who are keen to get a slice of the SW dream for less than £500,000 will be comforted to know that their budgets may be able to stretch to other areas featured in the ranking. This includes SW16, Streatham and SW2, Brixton.

Commenting on the research findings, Marc Page, Lloyds Bank mortgages director, at Lloyds Bank, said:

"Young professionals make up a decent proportion of the capital’s workforce and where they choose to live has a bearing on the local housing market. Our analysis suggests SW19 Wimbledon is the leading hot spot for young aspiring urbanites.”
