TECHNICAL DETAILS
Draught sealing is an excellent way to modify your windows and improve the insulation of your home, whilst retaining the authentic appeal of your traditional windows. Listed below is a detailed step by step guide to the draught seal process for a box sash window, casement window and a door. Draught sealing and repair is a superb product for listed properties as the appearance of your doors or windows will not change but the level of noise, dirt and draughts coming into your property will decrease significantly.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Box Sash Window
- Remove and dispose of staff bead
- Remove lower sash cords and weights
- Remove and dispose of parting bead
- Remove and dispose of parting bead
- Remove top sash cords and weights
- Scrape down pulley stiles to remove excess paint if necessary
- Paint pulley stiles with a single coat of acrylic paint
- Carry out any specified repairs or close sash joint
- Pack out or shoot in sashes to frame
- Ensure middle rails are level
- Clean and paint between the middle rails if appropriate
- Biscuit the middle rail to accept draught sealing material
- Remove all old furniture
- Repair where old locks/catches have been if appropriate
- Re hand top sash balancing weights as necessary
- Fit new parting beads and head beads with brush seals
- Re hang lower sash balancing weights as necessary
- Fit new staff bead with mitred joints
- Fit new furniture and locks as required
- Touch up chipped paint or bare surfaces and paint newly fitted beads**
- Seal the exterior of the window with silicone as appropriate
- Clean glass
** We will touch up with acrylic paint, unless the customer supplies other paint. If the exterior of the window is coloured the parting beads will need to be pre painted before installation. Such paint to be supplied by customer.

- Remove sash from frame
- Remove all old furniture (where new furniture is specified)
- Scrape excess paint from frame
- Touch up chipped /bare timber with white acrylic paint unless an alternative is supplied by the customer
- Refit sashes to frame, shoot in or pack as necessary
- Close any open joints
- Make good/ repair where old ironmongery has been removed
- Biscuit cut exterior perimeter of the sash to accept draught-sealing material
- Re-hang the sash. Use new screws and hinges (where specified)
- Fit new furniture or refit existing as appropriate
- Silicone seal around the perimeter of the window
- Clean Glass
Method 2 - Casement remains on hinges
- Remove furniture
- Clean off excess paint and touch in bare wood as necessary with white acrylic paint unless an alternative is supplied by the customer
- Ensure windows are opening correctly, if not remove from hinges and refit
- Fit new staff bead with brush pile around the inside of the window
- Fit new furniture or refit existing
- Silicone seal around exterior of the window
- Clean glass

- Clean off any excess paint on door and frame
- Ease and adjust doors as necessary
- Oil locks and hinges
- Fit staff beads with brush pile to head and sides of the door
- Fit draught excluder brush to bottom of the door
- Silicone seal to the exterior of the doorframe
- Clean glass
Type 2 - Door removed from hinges
- Clean off excess paint on the door and frame
- Remove the door from hinges, ease and adjust as necessary
- Leave approximately a 3mm gap around the door frame
- Biscuit cut the perimeter of the door, fit draught-sealing materials
- Oil locks and hinges
- Re-hang door
- Fit draught excluder brush to bottom of the door
- Silicone seal to the exterior of the doorframe
- Clean glass
