Each replacement double glazed, timber sash window we manufacture and install across London and the South is bespoke.
We can replicate any period design, including: Georgian; Edwardian; and Victorian sliding sash windows. Where necessary, our traditional timber sliding sash windows adhere to listed building and conservation area requirements.
Our replacement sliding sash windows range includes:
- Traditional cord hung windows
- Spiral hung windows
- Sash window bays
- Vertical and horizontal sliding sashes
- Fixed sashes
- Vertically sliding secondary glazing
From our extensive experience working with period properties, we have designed our Classic range which covers most requirements. However, if you have specific patterns in mind, we can ensure that your replacement double glazed sash windows retain the feel of your period home.
All of our timber box sash windows are manufactured at our workshop in Berkshire and are delivered with a comprehensive twenty year guarantee. We are fully FSC certified, meaning that all the timber we use for our box sash windows is sustainable.
If the frames are in good condition, we can replace just the sliding parts, saving you money, minimising disruption, and retaining the heritage of your home. Alternatively we can manufacture and install complete new timber box sash windows including the frame.
Below is a quick walk through by The Sash Window Workshop on installing new timber sliding sashes into existing window frames:
The materials we use are of the highest quality and durability. Customers can choose between timber types, glass specifications, paint finishes and furniture specifications. The majority of our sash windows are made using AccoyaTM, a sustainably sourced manufactured wood.
We make all our double glazed units and cut our glass in house. This allows us to maintain the highest standards. New complete wooden sash windows are glazed in accordance with Building Regulations and the relevant BS standards (EN 1279) to offer the best in energy efficiency. Customers can also opt for special glass such as stained glass, obscured glass and bowed glass.
Our standard paint finish is white semi-gloss inside and outside consisting of base-coat primer / preservative, undercoat and topcoat. Other colours and stains from specialist suppliers are available at the customer’s request, but there may be an additional charge.
Did you know that the traditional box sash window has been around since the 17th century? Amazingly the cord and lead weight design remains almost unchanged with spiral hung sash windows being a more modern development. Victorian timber sash windows are a key architectural feature of a number of areas in London including Kensington, Islington and Hampstead and conservationists are keen to retain the heritage features, which is why we work closely with them to ensure that the patterns and designs are precisely copied.
