Each new or replacement box sash window we make is individually manufactured in our workshops in Berkshire.
From our extensive experience working with period properties, we have designed our Classic range which covers most requirements. However, we can also replicate any design or pattern, allowing you to install replacement double glazed sash windows while retaining the feel of your period home.
Some of the period designs we can replicate include: Georgian; Edwardian; and Victorian sash windows. We can also make traditional wooden sliding windows to adhere to listed building and conservation area requirements.
Our replacement sash window product range includes:
- Traditional cord hung windows
- Spiral hung windows
- Sash window bays
- Vertical and horizontal sliding sashes
- Fixed sashes
- Vertically sliding secondary glazing
If the frames are in good condition, we can replace just the sliding parts, which will save you money, minimise disruption, and retain the heritage of your home. Alternatively we can manufacture and install complete new wooden box sash windows including the frame.
Below is a quick walk through by The Sash Window Workshop on installing new timber sliding sashes into existing window frames:
All of our new timber, double glazed, box sash windows are manufactured at our workshop in Berkshire by our team of qualified joiners to standards that comply with European manufacturing quality standard EN 14351, and are delivered with a comprehensive twenty year guarantee. We are fully FSC certified. Find out more about our timber.
The materials we use are of the highest quality and durability. Customers can choose between timber types, glass specifications, paint finishes and furniture specifications.
We make all our double glazed units and cut our glass in house. This allows us to maintain the highest standards. New complete wooden sash windows are glazed in accordance with Building Regulations and the relevant BS standards (EN 1279) to offer the best in energy efficiency. Customers can also opt for special glass such as stained glass, obscured glass and bowed glass.
Our standard paint finish is white semi-gloss inside and outside consisting of base-coat primer / preservative, undercoat and topcoat. Other colours and stains from specialist suppliers are available at the customer’s request, but there may be an additional charge.
We supply and fit a standard range of window furniture, which is specially selected for being high quality, hard wearing and elegant. Our standard finishes are brass, polished chrome and brushed chrome but we can also source other patterns and finishes on request.
